THE TICKET

The solution to fraud at the poll.

This is meant to be an initial description showing the simplicity of the system. It also shows that the cost is minimal.

When you go to the polling place you go to the person that is to find you listed as a registered voter. When you are found you may then go to a private booth to get your ticket. You push a button that is part of a networked COUNTER. This network only issues sequentially issued numbers and prints this number onto a ticket, it does NOTHING ELSE it passes no other information. YOU DO NOT SHOW THE NUMBER TO THE PEOPLE THAT IDENTIFIED YOU. The number is only known by you.

Now that you have your ticket this ticket identifies you as a registered voter. Now you go to another private booth with voting phone that has a bar code reader and reads the number from the ticket. This allows you to make a call very much like a pay phone Now you call the number for your candidate as indicated on the voters information document and this gives them your number as automatically transferred from the barcode reader in the phone. They enter the number as a vote.

The other parties never have any contact with anyone but the people that vote for them. The only thing that is known is the number of people that are going to vote. At the end of the day each candidate turns in their count. The counts from all the candidates must result with the correct total. This establishes a correct honest count for all. It will be necessary to have special phone connections for any disabilities. This does not require any new voting machines. It does require a networked counter that can be done with a standard PC and set up the day before an election at each polling place. The Button you push to be counted could be any key on the PC keyboard. The software for this could be done in a few hours and will run copies of this in all of the PCs at all of the polling places. There will be a simple program that will be run inside the PC that will simply print a ticket with a bar code relative to the actual count. This is your number. The phone only needs a special bar code reader to identify and read the number from the ticket. Then the number that you dial is relative to your candidate and is counted right then. You might want to use a security code on the ticket so that the software will identify the ticket as true. If this simple solution is not used then it will be obvious that they DO NOT WANT A TRUE VOTE. and or they want to write another costly government contract to spend taxpayers money for no good reason.
